The Benefits of Touch Typing
Learning to touch type is helpful if you find correctly forming and orientating letters challenging, if you use a lot of pressure on the page when writing which leads to pain in the hand when writing for an extended time, or if you have a slow speed of writing.

For those with difficulties spelling, typing instead of writing can help to develop spelling knowledge through the use of the spell checker available on the computer.

Some people who learn to touch type see their typing speed increase quickly and this helps to build confidence, self belief and self worth.

Some touch typing programmes (including the one I use in my courses), also supports with the development of reading and spelling.
My Touch Typing Courses
The touch typing courses that I run consist of three sessions, each of which last for one hour. These are face to face sessions at my home in a small group (maximum 4 children, with a minimum of 3 children needed to run the course).

Some courses run on Saturday mornings and some courses run on consecutive days in the school holidays.

Students are required to attend all three sessions. They need to bring a laptop and headphones with them to each session. A subscription will be set up to 'Touch Type Read and Spell' and sent to you before the first day of the course in order for you to check that the login details work.

Students are expected to continue practising their touch typing at home after the course ends (The subscription is for three months), and I will monitor progress through the touch typing programme weekly, sending an email update of progress and attainment once a week. Each time a level is completed (31 modules), a certificate is generated and sent to you to celebrate this success.

Each course costs £110. This cost includes the three 1-hour touch typing sessions, a 3 month subscription to Touch Type Read and Spell Touch-type Read and Spell (TTRS) | readandspell.com and weekly monitoring of progress through the programme via email for the duration of the 3 month subscription. Payment is made upfront to secure a place on a course.
